OSHliteracy.org has projects in place or development in Europe , The Middle-East and Asia. We work with NGOs, education and training providers, business partners and other stakeholders to promote best practice in OSH communications and training. Our focus is on developing OSH literacy teacher and training courses and delivering inclusive and effective, accredited OSH courses to young trainees and employees.
In Asia we work with NGOs delivering vocational training to at-risk groups. We have developed Train-the-Trainer courses for volunteers and have delivered hundreds of accredited and internationally recognised OSH courses to trainees. Having internationally OSH training and qualifications greatly increases the health, economic, employment and social mobility of the trainees.
In the Middle-East we have worked collaboratively with construction corporations with large migrant workforces and developed a specialised, one-day, ‘Introduction to Inclusive and Efective OSH Communications’ course. It can be easily delivered on-site and is cost-effective and easy to implement.
In Europe we work with a group in Ireland, which helps refugees and immigrants integrate into work and local society. We have recently become a member of the European Network of Education and Training in Occupational Safety and Health (ENETOSH – www.enetosh.net) and look forward to developing more projects with partners.
We have also created a bespoke programme for teachers, which will give them key OSH literacy awareness as well as OSH management and practical skills. We aim to have specialist, trained and qualified teachers and management in schools and colleges who will have a responsibility for embedding OSH into the curriculum and integrating OSH awareness into an institution’s overall ethos.
